Starry Starry night
"Starry, starry night, paint your palette blue and grey..." and yellow, and purple and pink and orange... For colour my main inspiation is always the master, Yan Gogh. It was eeing one of his sunflower paintings in the flesh, vibrant, alive with thick orange, yellow, brown and green paint, at the National Gallery in London as a 20 year old that really ignited my passion for paint and colour.
I often think of the many paintings and prints that have gone from my hands into the homes and hearts of others. And how the simple pleasure I have had in creating them continues in another person’s life and home. And then I think, it’s not a bad occupation, it’s perhaps one of the best jobs in the world, to share these simple pleasures.
