One of the unmentioned benefits of art and painting is it improves your memory it adds markers, anchors and waypoints.. I can remember exactly where I was when I painted this, what I was feeling rather than thinking what was on the radio. It somehow sharpens those senses.

I love a challenge - but wasn't expecting this current one to be as absorbing and exciting as it's turning out to be.
I am working on publishing an archive of almost 1000 paintings and a new website... oh geeky joy ... what pleasure is there in a meta data index🤣🤣

In the new website, I am including some of the different studios I’ve worked in. This was one of the most interesting, certainly the coldest.
It’s the upstairs joiners workshop of an old shipbuilding workshop on the banks of the Humber in East Yorkshire.

The studio space really impacts the type of paintings. Here I painted a series of large semi abstracts and florals, none of the more detailed beach and town paintings that I also love creating.

Hello lovlies - a little introduction and a special welcome if you are new here.

I’m an artist, a business owner, a mentor, and a woman who has rebuilt her life from the inside out.
By choice, I live in rural West Wales, close to the sea and the quiet — two things that taught me how to breathe again.

My path here wasn’t clean or glamorous.
I originally trained in psychology, then spent years working for the Home Office, trying to fit myself into a life that looked respectable but felt entirely wrong in my body.

Eventually, the truth caught up with me.
I became seriously ill.
Three weeks in hospital.
Two years slowly building myself back together... into who I knew to be the real me.

It wasn’t pretty.
But it was honest.
And it showed me what I had been refusing to see:
I was a creative woman forcing myself into a 9–5 box that was never meant for me.

So I let it all go — the managerial role, a good salary, the pension, the identity people understood — and I chose the thing that had been waiting for me all along: creativity.

It was messy, and brave, and the most right thing I have ever done.

Now, I paint from my home studio and gallery, where visitors are welcome by appointment. I spend my days dog walking, loving life, painting, and connecting with other artists.

Alongside my painting, I help other artists grow their skills and businesses, blending my passion for creativity with personal development.
I have had the privilege of women joining my spaces who were talented but self-doubting.
Women who had something inside them they couldn’t quite reach yet.
Women who just needed someone to see them clearly and remind them of what was already there.

I’ve watched them build their creative practices, their businesses, their confidence, their sense of self.

And every time, something in me lights up.

That’s still where I find my purpose.

Oh my it's all popping off here in the studio - sooooo many exciting plans, events, projects, exhibitions, adventures ..... I feel quite fizzy with it all.

Here's the thing - as part of my business planning for the coming year I felt very strongly about the idea of the Kitchen Table.
In a time that is at once so super-connected, but also superficially-connected, I crave real connection and community.

I only desire to work this year with small, intimate communities, building strong and meaningful connections.
Hence the Kitchen Table idea - I want to work with groups (whether I'm hosting or part of) of no more than I could fit around my kitchen table - which admittedly is quite big - but you get the idea.

So here's my first offering of the year - it's a biggie, in terms of what it will deliver, but also very compact, in terms of places.

Happy Solstice lovely friends, and thank you for another year of support and friendship.

I’ll devote some thought to a review of the year and planning the next at a later date. But for now enough to rest in the stillness of this beautiful season.

Thank you too for your patience- the observant amongst you will have noted the absence of new daily Advent paintings. Apologies for this as it really is a favourite thing of mine to do to mark this season. I’ve been laid pretty low with flu & bronchitis and have been missing being able to paint even small studies.

A suitable time them for pausing and resting indeed!

I hope you and yours are keeping well and warm, and and bring the light of solstice candles in your house and hearts 🕯️🤍

Today I was feeling stuck in my new business venture ... unconfident and bogged down.
