🌊 To the Beach – Llangrannog

There’s something about the road to Llangrannog…the way it curves and carries you down towards the sea.

Colourful cottages leaning into one another, people gathering, pausing, chatting—dogs weaving in and out, all of it gently flowing in the same direction.

You can almost feel the anticipation…
that sense of we’re nearly there.

This one feels full of life, warmth, and shared moments—a snapshot of summer

How’s your Easter day been? I hope you’re having a lovely time here we’re waiting for a family to arrive and I’ve been finishing off a little commission that is on its way to live in Italy.

We’ve been for a walk too, and I have these beautiful photographs to inspire my next painting.

Pasg Hapus, Happy Easter

This painting - 60 x 60cm is my Easter painting of St David's Cathederal with the spring blossoms of the ancient cherry tree in the grounds. This is my favourite view of the cathederal - the approach from the ancient cobbled path of Merrivale, towards the main door.
I always think the seagulls that are often seen there (it's only a mile or two from the sea) look like angels flying overhead.

This painting is in my solo show at Oriel Cardi Bach, Aberteifi, until 24th April, along with 19 other new spring-themed, colour filled joyful images.

Each spring, without fail, this lovely tree that I planted 15 years ago, blossoms.

Soft pink petals appear almost overnight, catching the light in a way that feels both familiar and quietly miraculous. No matter what the winter has been, no matter how long or grey, Jupiter comes back into bloom.
There’s something deeply reassuring in that rhythm.

This painting began there — with the simple noticing of blossom against the sky, and the sense of life returning, gently but surely. And then, as I painted, another layer revealed itself.

Beneath the tree, the daisies are pushing through the grass. And resting there too are Minnie and Bosun — my two old Jack Russells, still part of this place, still present in their own way.
It didn’t feel like something I chose to include. More that they were already there.

There’s a quiet comfort in that feeling… that nothing we love is ever truly lost. It changes, softens, becomes part of the landscape of who we are. Like roots beneath the surface, unseen but holding everything in place.

A gentle reminder that life continues to unfold, and that love stays with us in ways we don’t always expect.

'Pushing up Daisies' is part of my current exhibition at Oriel Cardi Bach in Cardigan, West Wales, running until 24th April.

when colour returns, quietly at first, and then all at once.

Not long now until these 17 new paintings are on the wall at Oriel Cardi Bach, Aberteifi.

This is the first collection of new paintings from me for a few years now

The show’s on for a month and previews and starts with a Preview on the 28th of March - this Saturday from 5 till 630.

I’m really looking forward to seeing these paintings on the wall, seeing how they work together and how they change the space that they are hanging in.

I’m always interested to see how the painting is a reflection of ideas and an expression not only of the myself, but of the time that they were created in and the consciousness of the collective in that time - for Art is nothing if it’s not a mirror.
