"The tide was unusually still this morning..."

Deep Blue series.

Summer. Slowing down.
The changing blues of the sea.
Warmth of sunlit walls.
Quiet moments between the tides.

Familiar places returned to, seen differently each time.

Over the past few months, these moments have found their way into the studio. Alongside paintings of much-loved local beaches and harbours, these three explore something new for me.

I've been allowing colour to lead the way.
Painting a little looser, a little quieter, and more instinctive—less about describing a place and more about capturing the feeling of being there.

They've become some of my favourite pieces to paint. These Deep Blue paintings are a small glimpse of the collection.

spent this morning framing new work for next week’s show at The Guildhall in Cardigan ; partly because I really like the hands-on craft of making of a frame and partly because I never know what I’m going to need framing until the last minute, 😜😜🙄

DIY is the way to go!

When I'm planning a workshop or teaching, I miss my solo time painting; when I'm by myself painting, I miss the people and workshops....

The more I understand myself, the more I honour and work with these aspects in harmony.

At present, prepping the studio for tomorrow's Paint*Magic workshop and the question keeps coming to mind -

"why is it that self-expression can sometimes be so hard?"

Can't wait to get into that through colour and discussion with ma peeps.

Understanding the energies associated with the chakra centres can be a powerful creative tool because it gives you different entry points into expression. Instead of trying to “come up with an idea,” you can begin with a felt sense in the body and let that shape what appears on the page or canvas.

I’m buzzing with excitement about this weekend’s workshop exploring the chakra colours and how we express those with paint.

Join me on Saturday for a day long workshop where we will create a Work journal and a large painting as we explore responses to the different colours associated with the different chakra points

This is a really beautiful way to explore paint and your response to the different colours there’s no expectation of creating a finished painting as purely play experimentation and discovering your beautiful unique self.

A little bit more about the workshops coming up in July.

Colour has always been my main theme and I’ve always been a student of psychology and yoga and now I am putting these things together using the energy centres of the chakras and the colours associated with them to explore unlocking creativity.

It’s going to be amazing and I’m so excited!

I'm feeling the love for our beautiful West Wales beaches at the moment, where I've been soaking up inspiration, and I have some new "dogs on the beach" prints on the website today to share the joy.

However much I enjoy the beach, no-one quite enjoys a beach like our pups do!

This was a labour of absolute love - choosing 30 paintings from the last 25 years to represent what Pembrokeshire has meant to me over the years - nature's lessons, catholic retreats, friends and family holidays, beautiful fresh food, history, geology, art, snad castles, beach days, long distance walks, solitude, wild winter nights, book writing, women bishops, sadness and frienships. All rolled into my stories, all rolled into these paintings.

What a day ☀️
So so pleased to be back home in my lovely cool north facing studio after delivering paintings to St Davids for a solo show at Oriel y Parc Gallery.
Delighted to visit @dead.seacollective shop at St Ds and browse the vinyl - what a gorgeous venture. So cool 🧊🧊

on my way back, it was great to touch base with Isabel @elementsnewport and restock her cards and discuss showing some paintings with her at the nationional Eisteddfod coming to Aberteifi in August.

What a treat it’s been to meet such lovely humans today - including the young chap who dinted my van - no worries - we’ll sort it.

Final days of preparation for a solo show at the Saint David’s visitor centre. The show starts on Friday 26th and continues until August 2nd.

The exhibition is in a round room and features paintings that take you on a journey around Pembrokeshire from Saundersfoot to Poppit Sands.

I’m really excited to see all these paintings together which are from the last 25 years. It’s gonna be a real emotional experience for me, reconnecting with all these places and the memories that the paintings hold. I’m very much looking forward to it.

I’ll post up a video when it’s installed. I hope you enjoy it too.
