1. Thought of the week @Equisgarcia - "Dharma Art is the quality of presence a maker brings to their work...." named what I felt when painting and gives a framework for thinking and talking about my work.

2. Matisse. Inspiring me to know when to stop. Not every inch of every painting needs detail. Empty space allows the detailed areas to shine.

3. Seeing my work hanging in the fabulous @yr_hen_printworks

4. Mending. @asolo.official - these boots are my absolute favourites, at least 12 years old and bald on the bottom. I am overjoyed that they are now in Italy, at the manufacturers who offer a resoling service. Can't wait to have them back.

5. Delish coffee in a plant based no plastic cup the made me smile from @bocsdu

6. Birthday pressie from me to me. Just what I wanted, thank you! @edenashramofficial

7. Happy surprise. When a framed print looks even better than the original.

'Aberporth to the beach'
What can I say? Where have those last 30 years gone?
When I started painting in the style I'm known for, it was with Sennelier Oil Pastels. I loved their soft lipstick-like creaminess and the way they allowed me to follow the idea of 'colouring in' that fascinated and continues to fascinate me.
Anyone remember Aberporth from the 80s/90s?
I'm currently updating my website and including some of my favourites from the last 30 years that haven't been seen for a while.

Some paintings take time…
layers building slowly, decisions unfolding as they go.

And some arrive almost all at once.

This one felt like that — as if it already knew what it wanted to be. The marks stayed loose, the shapes only just held, and I found myself not wanting to overwork it.

There’s something I love about that…
leaving space, allowing things to remain a little unresolved, a little open.

Some paintings take time…
layers building slowly, decisions unfolding as they go.

And some arrive almost all at once.

This one felt like that — as if it already knew what it wanted to be. The marks stayed loose, the shapes only just held, and I found myself not wanting to overwork it.

There’s something I love about that…
leaving space, allowing things to remain a little unresolved, a little open.

There’s a quiet moment just before the day begins…

When everything feels still,
colours are softened by the early light.

This painting of Solva came from one of those spring mornings — the harbour gently reflecting the first light, the houses slowly emerging from shadow, and a sense of calm that feels almost timeless.

A pause before the day unfolds.

How’s your Easter day been? I hope you’re having a lovely time here we’re waiting for a family to arrive and I’ve been finishing off a little commission that is on its way to live in Italy.

We’ve been for a walk too, and I have these beautiful photographs to inspire my next painting.
