This cottage, standing protected behind a monumental granite headland, was once home to one of Britain's greatest painters, John Piper. After he left, the cottage remained empty for many years,each time I walked the Pembrokeshire coast path there, I saw it gradually returning to the land. 
Then, a couple of years ago I passed by in late spring, the sky was blue, streaked with the ligh vapour of the atlantic jet stream, and there was the cottage, reborn and re-loved. A happy place.
