Here's something we've been keeping under wraps.

(Although the observant amongst you may have noticed the odd reference to this project throughout this year ...)

Way back in March, when the weather was cold and the sun had not been seen for months, daughter Chloe and I sat in her garden having coffee and reminiscing about warm summer mornings spent in Collioure, by the med at the foot hills of the Pyrennes on the south coast of France - drinking coffee and planning lazy days of swimming, eating and painting. My kind of heaven!

This is the photo, in a cold West Wales garden, that kicked off a project that we are now jointly working on and that will culminate in a gallery show next July.

These are two paintings that we have painted together. Sometimes individually, sometimes in the same room, but a joint painting. Two artists one canvas ... it's co-creation at it's best - exciting, challenging, thought-provoking.

We'll be working on more of these throughout the next 12 months - watch this space and head over to Chloe's web site (link in comments below) to see her work, and get an idea of how these two styles will combine.

Curators - As these paintings progress, we will be looking for galleries to work with in Wales and beyond. Contact Chloe or I for an informal chat.

What a gorgeous day and it’s work experience for these two lovlies - the life of an artist - up at 7, get the van ready, drive 90 minutes to take down a show at St Davids, have a walk to the beach there and a swim, cake & hot chocolate, sing in the van on the way back before an afternoon nap (for them.... lighweights 🤣) followed framing, labelling and packing. Tomorrow we do it all again - this time to set up a show at Gallery Gwyn in Aberaeron.

And not a paintbrush in sight all day🤣

the full moon energy is something else right now.
Unplanned studio clearout - finding a dog painting from 8 year old me. Near meltdown from work overload saved by LOVE and a walk on the beach.
Old patterns surfacing, seen, assessed and understood. Appreciation of creativity - what a day!

And I didn’t even have a dog then but I sure loved them.

People have been commenting all week about how my paintings make them happy and when I look at them, yes that’s what they are about. People also comment that they all include dogs. Last day at the Guildhall Gallery tomorrow, and I’m surprised these two haven’t found their Forever Homes yet. The first one ‘Resting’ is one of my favourites. I just love the simplicity in the colour and the sentiment! The second one Little Horse - so many people have loved that, so many people have had it in their hands. It’s just waiting for its right person.

And that’s what I love - that’s why I do this - the connection between the painting and the person when it finds the one.

Sometimes it feels like running an animal sanctuary! Trying to match the animal with the new owner😂😂

"The tide was unusually still this morning..."

Deep Blue series.

Summer. Slowing down.
The changing blues of the sea.
Warmth of sunlit walls.
Quiet moments between the tides.

Familiar places returned to, seen differently each time.

Over the past few months, these moments have found their way into the studio. Alongside paintings of much-loved local beaches and harbours, these three explore something new for me.

I've been allowing colour to lead the way.
Painting a little looser, a little quieter, and more instinctive—less about describing a place and more about capturing the feeling of being there.

They've become some of my favourite pieces to paint. These Deep Blue paintings are a small glimpse of the collection.

spent this morning framing new work for next week’s show at The Guildhall in Cardigan ; partly because I really like the hands-on craft of making of a frame and partly because I never know what I’m going to need framing until the last minute, 😜😜🙄

DIY is the way to go!

When I'm planning a workshop or teaching, I miss my solo time painting; when I'm by myself painting, I miss the people and workshops....

The more I understand myself, the more I honour and work with these aspects in harmony.

At present, prepping the studio for tomorrow's Paint*Magic workshop and the question keeps coming to mind -

"why is it that self-expression can sometimes be so hard?"

Can't wait to get into that through colour and discussion with ma peeps.

And next week - solo time in the studio painting for a week long pop up at the Corn Exchange Gallery in Aberteifi 20-26th July.

Join me on Saturday for a day long workshop where we will create a Work journal and a large painting as we explore responses to the different colours associated with the different chakra points

This is a really beautiful way to explore paint and your response to the different colours there’s no expectation of creating a finished painting as purely play experimentation and discovering your beautiful unique self.
