Online 'live' workshop which is fully recorded and downloadable so even if you can't be with us live, you can join the workshop.
Join me, live in the studio for this interactive workshop where we will explore my favorite part of art - the foundation, the essence of great paintings - colour.
'Color is all. When color is right, form is right. Color is everything, color is vibration like music; everything is vibration.''Chagall
Using acrylic paints, we will explore through hands-on exercises on paper, and using some of the 20th centuries greatest painters as our guides, just why colour is so essential and so exciting.
Why do Teal and Cadmium red vibrate so well together?
Why is quinacridone red more suitable for glazes than cadmium red?
Why is a thimble full of violet more powerful than a bucketful?
We'll explore colour schemes, colour palettes, and the use of colour in relation to each other.
It's going to be magical - join me for my favorite obsession.
An hour of live, interactive group introduction/tutorial /demonstration on Friday evening, 6-7pm.
Live painting workshop on Saturday and Sunday from 12am - 1pm GMT
Daily live Q&A and review session after class.
Acrylic paint in the following colours:
Titanium White, Phthalo Blue, Prussian Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Napthol Red, Magenta, Lemon Yellow, Hansa Yellow deep.
Don’t worry if you don’t have these specific colours. The aim is to have a “warm” and “cool” version of each of the primary colours, so if you substitute make sure you have one of each.
Paper We will be working mostly in acrylic on thick watercolour paper, at least 300gsm. Thin paper will warp when you try and paint on it.
Sketchbook/Scrap paper: This will come in handy for taking notes and for testing out colours.
Brushes: You will need a selection of soft acrylic brushes in different sizes, both flat and round. Because we will be working mostly small, you don’t need really large brushes, but a flat brush that is at least 2” wide will come in handy.
Masking tape: Used to tape the edges of the paper before painting it create a nice clean edge once removed. I use Frog Tape tape that is either 1” wide.
The workshop is delivered via a Zoom meeting room so that we can all see each other, as we would in a face to face workshop.
